Weather App
Overview
Project assignment from Team Treehouse.
A new weather app is being created at my company that informs the users about the current and upcoming weather.
Problem
The company needed a design for displaying an overview of the current day and upcoming days, and another page showing details of the selected day.
Requirements:
“The overview screen should include the user's location, the current temperature, the chance of precipitation, and a list of 5 upcoming days (including the current day). Each upcoming day should have the name of the day of the week, and the high and low temperatures. Tapping on an upcoming day should bring the user to a "day detail" screen.
The day detail screen should include the day of the week and the high and low temperatures. Then there should be a list that breaks down each part of the day: morning, afternoon, and night. The three parts of the day should include the average temperature and the chance of precipitation.” - Team Treehouse
Audience
People in the ages between 20-50 years old living in America who has an interest in how the weather will be.
Solution
With that much information to display, I prioritized it and since the current weather is the most important it was displayed highest up on the screen with larger text to emphasize it. Whilst the upcoming five days was placed at the bottom in smaller text.
For the detailed screen, a table displays the average weather of that day together with the highest and lowest temperature and forecast. After that, a detailed weather prognosis displayed for every hour.
Learnings
For this project the challenge was to display a lot of information. In order to achieve this I needed to decide what to emphasize and what could be less emphasized.
